Smilin

Yet another image from last week (05-14-2012). This was the first time this year I saw any goats in GNP. I have been looking everyday for almost a month. Not sure why they were so late coming down this year. Heard of several possible reasons with one being wolves have decimated the herd in their winter grazing area. Personally I would rather see these animals than wolves. So far I have seen no baby goats. I hope to soon!!

Snowy Owl, Polson, Mt 2012-01-15

2012-01-15-__MG_5185_080

A big thanks to BigSkyKatie for the tip on where the Snowy Owls are. I have since done some research and realize this news is well known from an article in the Missoulian. But without Katie I may well have missed it. So I have to give her the credit as she gave me the directions that I needed as I only had a couple hours Sunday afternoon to run down to Polson, definitely worth the 200 mile roundtrip.

East Glacier Park, MT -- Sunrise

This image was taken about 30 minutes after my previous post of the Two Medicine Lunar Eclipse.

Two Medicine Lunar Eclipse

Taken during yesterdays (2011-12-10) full lunar eclipse. This image was captured in the Two Medicine area of Glacier National Park, MT. The wind was howling (as it almost always does on the east slope) so this image is just a tad soft.

Avalanche Creek -- 2009-08-02

I can't wait to do this hike again, one of my favorite places to go in the park. With all the snow in the park this year I am sure there will be plenty of runoff even in mid to late August. Got a late start this morning as I had out of state visitors that enjoyed this hike with me. Exif data shows 11:11am as the capture time, so it was extremely bright with a lot of shadows in the canyon. I tried to process a single image but could not do it justice to what I remember. So here is a 3-shot blended version.

Hope you enjoy this one and thanks for looking.
