Eagle & Eaglets #2

Upload #2 -- In this shot notice the fish tail on the side of the nest (view large). They seemed like they were very well fed. Fat, happy and sleepy!

I took this shot over a week ago, yesterday my sister called to say she came home and found one of the eagles feeding on a fish on the beach in front of her home. The eagle spooked but came back a few hours later to retrieve its catch, the fish was so big (20 to 24") that the eagle had a hard time trying to fly with it. She thought that the eagle was finally successful in getting it back to the nest.

I finally made it back to Coeur d'Alene over Memorial Day weekend to revisit the Bald Eagle nest. I was not disappointed! There are two eaglets in the nest although this shot does not show them both. If I get a few comments requesting more pictures of them I will post a few. As big as they are I wonder if they were in the nest last time I was there. There is a good picture on wikipedia of young eaglets. They look a lot different when first hatched.
